Struthers – A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown, OH for Dan J. Vlad, 92, of Struthers, who passed away at home.
Dan was born on November 7, 1921 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Dan and Ann Vlad.
He grew up in Campbell, Ohio and lived in the area his whole life. He was a 1940 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and served the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a POW, held in Germany for six months. He worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company in the Open Hearth Department for 36 years. He was a member of the VFW in Sharon, Pa and several POW Organizations. He was also an avid bowler and golfer.
Dan leaves one son, Jeffrey D. (Lori) Vlad of Struthers; two grandchildren, Rachel and Ross and one great grandchild, Aavan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rae Vlad.
