Youngstown – Gary Turner, 73, of Youngstown passed away Saturday, March 30, at 1:05 pm at home with his family.
Gary was born on January 26, 1951, in New Middletown to the late George Ford and Ila Rae (Ewing) Turner.
He was a man of many hats, starting his career with American Ambulance as an EMT and then becoming a police officer for the Beaver Township Police Department for six years. He worked as a construction project manager for 35 years with Sears and continued on with Dollar General until his retirement. Gary was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman, cherishing his retirement with friends and family in Conneaut, OH, and Santee, SC.
Gary married his beloved wife, Carol Ann Lipply, of Columbiana, on August 18, 1973. They celebrated 35 years together prior to her passing in 2008.
Gary is survived by his only son Daniel (Bernadette) Turner of Youngstown, with whom he made his home, along with his grandsons Daniel Ryan Turner of Youngstown and Bryce Ford Turner, both of whom he cherished with all of his heart. He also leaves his brother, Lester (Debbie) Turner of Maricopa, AZ.
Gary leaves behind the memories of love, laughter, and good times that he shared with many people that became family across the way.
Friends may call on Friday, April 5, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Clemente Funeral Home at 10170 Main Street in New Middletown, 44442. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm.
