Visitation: Friends may call two hours before the service at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday.

NEW SPRINGFIELD - Walter L. (Smokey) Davis, 65, of New Springfield passed away on Wednesday morning at Hospice House in Poland. Walter was born on September 18, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Harold W. and Anna M. Ellis Davis. He did various jobs including working at the Petersburg Inn. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Viet Nam War. Walter was a member of the New Waterford Eagles, the East Palestine Moose Lodge and he enjoyed playing cards and telling stories. He leaves two brothers, William H. Davis of North Lima, OH and Tom (Sophie) Davis of Austintown; one sister, Barbara Moss Brown of New Springfield; four nieces; seven nephews and many great nieces and nephews. His great nephew, Kyle Moss, with whom he made his home, took care of Walter for many years. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, Lori Sue Davis; one brother, Robert E. Davis and three sisters, Peggy Davis, Shirley Dunegan and Norma Gillivan.
