North Lima – Funeral services  will be Saturday, January 9, at 9:30 a.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers and a mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a. m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Boardman and officiated by Father Joseph Fata, for Theresa Niro, 100, formerly of Struthers, who passed away peacefully on January 6, at the Assumption Nursing Home. Theresa was born on April 6, 1915, in Lucito, Campobasso, Italy, a loving daughter of Luigi and Erminia (Minicucci) Pizzuto. On April 27, 1939, she married Leopoldo Niro. They enjoyed 59 years together until his death in 1998. After her immigration to the United States in 1958, she worked as a seamstress at Moyers Pants Company in Youngstown. Theresa was a wonderful mother and wife who loved cooking and baking for her family.  Most comfortable in her basement kitchen, she made countless pasta dinners for her sons and families. As a devout Catholic, she was a former member of Christ Our Savior / St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, where she worked the festival each year and belonged to the Italian Mothers Club.  She was also a member of the St. Nicholas Senior Citizens. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. Theresa is survived by her two sons Peter (Theresa) Nero of Poland and Frank (Barbara) Niro of Canfield, three grandchildren Maria (Darren) Hayes of Poland, Paul Nero of Los Angeles, CA, and Brian (Andrea) Niro of Macedonia, OH, four great grandchildren Katrina, Tyler, Elijah and Jacob, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. The family would like to thank the Assumption Nursing Homes Special Care Unit for the love, care, and support they gave to Theresa and her family for the past five years. Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers. Interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery.
