Obituary

Steven “Steve” Armstrong, 84, of Boardman, Ohio, passed away at home on June 18, 2026.

Born on July 11, 1941, Steve spent his entire life in Boardman. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1959 and built a life defined by hard work, dedication to family, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

On February 19, 2026, Steve and his wife, the former Jean Shotts, celebrated 60 years of marriage. Together they built a loving home and shared a lifetime of memories.

Family was the center of Steve’s life. He is survived by his wife, Jean; his daughters, Stacy Armstrong and Kelly (Terry) Radcliff; and his grandsons, Aidan and Declan Radcliff, who brought him immense joy. Although illness prevented him from attending many of their activities in recent years, he closely followed their accomplishments and was always their biggest supporter. His family knew they could always count on him for help, advice, or a repair.

Steve worked as a cement mason through Local 179 for many local contractors throughout his career. He took pride in a job well done and carried that same work ethic into caring for his home and family. There was little he could not fix, and he enjoyed sharing the skills he learned over a lifetime.

He enjoyed word searches, solitaire and card games on his iPad, and old Westerns on television. He especially looked forward to Sunday morning coffee at Yankee Kitchen with Kenny and Georgie and never turned down a good Wingstop chicken sandwich.

Christmas was one of Steve’s favorite times of year. He took great pride in his “Christmas in the City” village, featuring more than 80 buildings and countless accessories, which transformed the family dining room into a holiday wonderland enjoyed by family and friends alike.

A lifelong dog lover, Steve treasured the companionship and loyalty of the many dogs who were part of his family throughout the years.

His steady presence, practical wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar Armstrong and Dorothy Foster Armstrong, and his infant daughter, Kristin Armstrong.

As per Steve’s wishes, private services will be held at a later date.
