New Middletown - Stephen M. Helmick, Sr., 48, passed away Wednesday at his home. Stephen was born June 8, 1963 in Youngstown, a son of Roy and Rosalia Romero Helmick. He married Colleen Cook on September 8, 1984. He was a social member of the New Springfield VFW Post 2799, also know as the Triangle Post. He loved camping, fishing and riding his bike with his granddaughter, Olivia, the (Light of his Life). He is joining his puppy and best friend (Abby). He is survived by his wife Colleen; mother Rosalia of Youngstown; a son Stephen Jr. (Crystal) of Petersburg; one daughter, Lauren Nicola Grossman; three brothers, Christopher (Cheryl) Helmick of Austintown, Ray (Rose) Helmick of Youngstown, Mark (Bambi) Helmick of Poland and one granddaughter Olivia Pauline Helmick. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother Phillip and one sister Shirley Morrison.
