Visitation: Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Struthers.

STRUTHERS - Sophie D. Ondrey, 89, of St. Mary's Alzheimers Center, formerly of Struthers, passed away early Monday morning at the center. Sophie was born on May 15, 1921 in Youngstown, a daughter of Mathew and Anna Sikora Kuna. She lived in the area her entire life and graduated from Eash High School. She worked at General Fireproofing and during World War II, she was a (Rosie the Riveter). She was a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church in Boardman. Sophie married George W. Ondrey on May 13, 1950, and he passed away Nov. 29, 2008. She leaves two daughters, Debra (William) A. Flaugh and Sandra (Robert) J. Semko, both of Beaver Township; one sister, Helen Kropchak of Struthers; also two grandchildren, Samantha and Annie; and one step-grandchild, Christopher. Sophie also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Sophie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and three sisters, Margie Westhart, Ann Globeck and Mary Zumerik. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Alzheimers Center for the excellent care that was given to Sophie.
