NEW MIDDLETOWN- A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown for Sophia V. Soldo, 93, of New Middletown, who passed away on Thursday. Sophia was born April 9, 1921 in Villa Marie, PA., a daughter of Frank and Sophie Sivak Tkach. She came to this area 68 years ago and worked as a clerk at Woolworth's Department Store.  She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, its Altar and Rosary Guild and worked bingo and dinners for all activities that were held at the church. Sophie married Jacob A. Soldo on June 27, 1942 and he passed away on March 29, 2003. She leaves two daughters, Jacqueline E. (Ron) Wintersgill of East Palestine, OH, and Sandra J. (Roy) Barnard of New Middletown, OH; one sister, Irene Mattie of Pulaski, PA; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sophie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, Joe, John, Frank, Al and Mike Tkach; two sisters, Frances Torok and Anne Marion. There will be no calling hours.
