Services: Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home and at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, both in Struthers.

Visitation: Friends may call on Sunday at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

STRUTHERS - Salvador (Sam) Scarnecchia, 89, passed away Friday at Greenbriar Nursing Home. Salvador was born Oct. 1, 1920 in Youngstown, a son of Emilio and Carmela Bruno Scarnecchia. He served in the Army during World War II and was part of the invasion of Normandy. He was also a prisoner of war. He worked at Republic Steel and married Fannie Carano on Dec. 1, 1945. He enjoyed shooting craps in Las Vegas and Mountaineer. Salvador leaves his wife, Fannie; two daughters, Marie Wess of Struthers and Mary Lou (Raymond) Hricik of Sharon, Pa.; two brothers, Jack of Boardman and Frank of Illinois; one sister, Olga Cortessi of California; five grandchildren, Kimberly Wess (Fiancee Mark Caruso), David (Melanie) Gaffney, Brian (Alison) Wess, Sean Gaffney and Kelly Wess; and six great-grandchildren, Christopher, Kaylee, Madison and Gavin Wess and Mia and Ava Gaffney. Salvador was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony and son-in-law, Lyle Wess.
