BOARDMAN-A private memorial service is being planned to honor the life of Sallie Anne Rogers, 75, of Boardman, who passed away Tuesday afternoon at the St. Elizabeth Health Care Center/Main Campus in Youngstown. Sallie was born on March 9, 1937 in Youngstown, OH a daughter of Nicholas F. and Bonita E. Canfield Joiy. She lived in the area her entire life and was a dispatcher/driver for the Independent Cab Company. She was a graduate of Ryan High School and was a member of its marching band. She served as a WAVE in the medical division of the U.S. Navy. A former bagpiper with the Struthers F.O.E. Pipe Band, she enjoyed music, crossword puzzles, ceramics and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Sallie leaves one daughter, Michele Anne McBride of Girard, OH. She also leaves her lifelong friend Carol Beaudoin and her daughter Christine Beaudoin, with whom she made her home. She also leaves Cindy L. Bedell and Emily S.Fetty, whom she considered family. Last, but not least,she leaves her beloved dog, Zoey. She was preceded in death by her parents. Sallie's family would like to offer its sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the physicians, nursing and supportive staffs of the CMIC Unit at St. Elizabeth's for their exceptional care and kindness during their most difficult of times.
