Visitation: Friends may call two hours before the service on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown.

NEW MIDDLETOWN - Russell E. Helle, 81, of New Middletown, passed away at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center in Columbiana. Russell was born July 26, 1929 in Newport, PA, a son of Thomas V. and Della Shelenberger Helle. He moved to New Middletown in 1964. Russell married Clara B. Candiota of New Castle on April 23, 1949. He worked for 20 years in the General Office of the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company and then Spike Industries, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Bessemer, PA. Russell served in the United States Army in WWII; and he was stationed on the Island of Adak in the Aleutian Islands in 1945 and 1946. He enjoyed working on cars and traveling and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Russell leaves behind his wife Clara, two sons, Larry E. (Martha) Helle of Poland, OH, Ronald J. Helle of New Middletown, OH; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert Helle, a sister Dorothy Jones Eversole and a great-grandchild Tyler Maughan. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Nursing Home for the wonderful love, care and support that they gave to Russell and his family during his two year stay. Their kindness is deeply appreciated.
