Services: Services will be Saturday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in New Middletown at 10 a.m.
Visitation: Friends may call at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m.
Springfield Township - Rudy E. Ohlin, 87, passed away Wednesday at Hospice House. Rudy was born June 12, 1921, a son of George and Mary Jereb Ohlin. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII in the 9th Air Force as a tech sergeant. He married Joyce E. Famor on June 26, 1953. He lived in San Diego and Arizona before returning to the area in 1962. Rudy was a contractor, developer and part owner, with his brothers, of Ohlin Brother's Lumber Co., which was established in 1945. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, for which he donated the land for the original church. He was also very active in donating and helping the less fortunate in underdeveloped countries. He was a previous board member of the Mahoning National Bank. Rudy loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing his whole life. He leaves three sons, Russell E. (Leanne) Ohlin of New Middletown, Mark A. Ohlin of North Lima and Randy W. (Christine) Ohlin of New Middletown; four daughters, Kathryn A. (Frank) of Hanoverton, Mary June (Rod) Emerson of Springfield Township, Annie M. (Jim) Porter of Poland, and Tina E. (Ken) Cummings of Springfield; one sister, Mary A. Brentin of Poland; and 17 grandchildren. Rudy was preceded in death by eight brothers, Frank, Joseph, Wint, Anthony, Woody, Louis, John, and Bill Ohlin; and three sisters, Helen Stebelton, Jenny Daubert, and an infant sister, Anne Ohlin.
