New Middletown - Rosalie A. Shane, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.  Rosalie was born on March 30, 1929 in New Castle, PA, the daughter of Vincent and Katherine Gallagher.

Rosalie retired from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church after serving 35 years as parish secretary.   She was a longtime member of their Altar Guild, a Pirohy "Pincher" as well as a member of the Springfield Athletic Boosters and enjoyed volunteering with the Mission of Love. Rosalie was also an avid traveler enjoying many years of family vacations on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Robert P. Shane whom she married November 24, 1951.

Rosalie is survived by her brother Vincent Gallagher, children: Mike (Georgie) Shane of New Middletown, OH, Janice (Jeff) Price of Silver Lake, OH, Scott (Teresa) Shane, of Grove City, OH, Diane (Elmer) Boda of Waxhaw, NC, and Katy (David) Ertle of Canal Fulton, OH.  She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren whom she cherished.

Besides her parents and husband, Rosalie was preceded in death by her brothers William, Robert and John Gallagher, her sister Mary Catherine Schaner and great grandson Gavin Griffith.

The family would like to thank the staff of Masternick Memorial Health Care Center for the exceptional care they gave Rosalie during her stay there.

Calling hours will be on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church 10143 Main Street, New Middletown, OH 44442.  On Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m.
