Struthers - Robert Phipps, 94, passed away on Friday at 4:40 a.m. Robert was born on Dec. 13, 1913 in Bedford, Pa., a son of George and Sara Jane Hicklin Phipps. He worked in coal mines for 16 years then worked at General American in Brookfield as a pipefitter for 32 years. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Campbell. Robert married the former Mildred E. Hill in 1964 and she passed away in 2002. He leaves three sons, Robert Lee (Helen) Phipps of Virginia, Irvine (Marilyn) Phipps of Yukon, Pa., and Les Phipps of Struthers; three daughters, Marjory Connor of Nanty-Glo, Pa., Caroline (Pete) Baily of South Carolina and Carol (Roger) Bennett of Struthers; 19 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Kenneth Phipps, daughter, Dorothy Keener; and two brothers, Albert and Eddy Phipps.
