STRUTHERS-Raymond Frank Nemeth, 75, passed away after a lengthy illness at his home surrounded by his family. Ray was born April 26, 1938, and graduated from Chaney High School in 1956 and attended Youngstown State University. He served in the Army for 2 years, trained in Redstone Arsenal in missile warfare in Huntsville, AL. He was a firefighter engineer and arson investigator for the City of Struthers for 28 years. He was a member of the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department and Tri County Arson Squad. Ray held the rank of captain in charge of conveyance for the sheriff's department. He worked for 10 years with the YSU Police Department and was a member of the Canfield Fair Police Department. He was certified by the State of Ohio and Federal Government as an arson investigator. He was a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, Ohio Association of Arson Investigators, and the Greater Youngstown Crime Clinic. He was a Charter Member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1910 and served as local president. He created the Fire Prevention and Education Poster Contest for the Struthers School System. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville and served as an usher for 19 years. Ray leaves behind his loving wife, the former Rosalie Marie Pompeii, of 50 years, four children Steve (Denise) Nemeth of Struthers, Julie (Doug) DiLoreto of Struthers, Nicole Nemeth of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Ray (Deanna) Nemeth of Poland, 10 grandchildren Marcus Nemeth, Joe DiLoreto, Dan DiLoreto, Brett Nemeth, Christian Nemeth, Alicia Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Zachary Nemeth, Ryan Nemeth, Ashley Peebles, great-granddaughter Zoe and his beloved dog Sugar. He was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Bertha Nemeth. The family wishes to thank Doctors Ed Miller, Bacani, Barton, Chicchillo, Balmenti, Nord, Katz, Ballas, Goldstein and the entire staff at Northside Medical Center, Vibra Hospital, Boardman Dialysis and Hospice of the Valley for their excellent care and kindness.
