NEW MIDDLETOWN - Services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown for Ralph J. "Jim" Heaven, 71, of New Middletown, who went to be with his Lord after passing away suddenly at home on December 30, 2014.
Jim was born on January 7, 1943 in Youngstown. He was the son of Ralph E. and Helen Hobart Heaven, who both preceded him in death. He graduated from North High School in
Youngstown in 1961.
Jim married the love of his life, Judy Heaven, a high school classmate and friend, on February 16, 1963. They had 2 children and 3 grandchildren. Judy and Jim created a beautiful, loving life together. They celebrated their 50th anniversary on February 16, 2013 with a party surrounded by family and friends.
Jim was a charter member of the Springfield Township Optimist Club, a proud member of Glaziers Local #847 and an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of New Middletown. He also served on the Springfield Local School Board.
He began in the Building Trades in 1966 as a Glazier and retired in 2000 from Warren Glass and Paint Company, as a Shop Supervisor where he worked for 13 years.
Jim leaves one son, Bill (Janie) Heaven of Canfield; one daughter Sandi (Fred) Kohler of New Middletown and three devoted grandchildren, Ryan and Bree Kohler of New Middletown, and Sara heaven of Canfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy and two brothers, Robert and Raymond. He also leaves many friends, neighbors and extended family who mourn his passing.
Jim was dedicated to his family. He beamed with pride when watching his grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He was an avid golfer and always remarked about how he enjoyed spending time with his golf buddies both on and off the course. He loved his routine of going to the gym and hardware store to spend time with his "extended family", who meant so much to him.
Friends and family may call on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown and on Saturday, in the church, one hour before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
