Petersburg – Nevin David Hawkins, 69, passed away at the Hospice House on Thursday evening October 15, 2026.

Nevin was born on February 6, 1957 in Salem, Ohio, a son of Galen W. and Letha Yaggi Hawkins. A lifelong area resident, he worked at Schwebel’s Baking Company for 43 years, holding various positions throughout the bakery. He was a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana, Ohio.

Nevin enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially being on the water in his pontoon boat, camping, hunting, fishing and bird watching. He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes and motorcycles.

Nevin leaves his wife the former Sharon K. Hutchko whom he married on July 28, 1995. Besides his wife of Petersburg, he leaves three sons, Jonathan (Angie) Hawkins of New Waterford, OH; David (Ashley) Hawkins of North Lima, OH and William (Nicolette) Hawkins of Fredericktown, Ohio; one step-son James E. (Susan) Fellows of Berlin Center, OH; one step-daughter Tracy (Stephen) Bianco of Cortland, OH; one brother Paul Hawkins of Poland, OH and 12 grandchildren Kaylee, Joseph, Maxwell, Aiden, Tristan, Galen, Oliver, Komeron, Emma, Komeron, Hayden,and Haylee.

Nevin was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Martha Blazek.
