NEW MIDDLETOWN - Ljudmila, also known as Mildred Plecnik (Petkovsek), was born on September 25, 1918 in Ravnik, Slovenia. She and Ivan Plecnik were married in 1942. Ljudmila immigrated to Ohio and was reunited with her husband in 1956. She died peacefully in Long Beach, Calif., on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at 91 1/3 years old. She had lived 52 years in New Middletown, and for one year in Long Beach. Ljudmila (Mildred) was a loving mother who never gave up. She had a great devotion to her Catholic faith and St. Joseph, her patron saint, and was an active parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Church. Her greatest loves were her family and the flowers and plants around her home. She treasured and thought kindly of all her good neighbors and friends throughout the years. She leaves behind her children, Sr. Agnes Plecnik, Josephine Pugel, John, Joe and Paul Plecnik. The deceased children are Matthew Plecnik, Ivanka Petkovsek and Frances Boh. She also leaves behind 26 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
