POLAND - Michael J. Flaherty, 92, of Poland passed away Thursday morning at Greenbriar Nursing Home in Boardman. Michael was born on July 9, 1917 in Youngstown, a son of James B. and Edna Wills Flaherty and lived his whole life in this area. He attended Ohio University in Athens, OH; Youngstown State University and Westminister and attended Infant Jesus of Prague Church in Boardman. Mr. Flaherty and Vic Knisely founded Top Value Oil Company and later formed Mike & Vic's Amoco Truck Service in North Lima. He married Patricia R. McLaughlin on April 10, 1948. Michael was a Sgt. in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He leaves behing his wife Patricia; three sons, Michael Flaherty of Florida, Patrick (Sylvia) Flaherty of Dallas, TX, Kevin Flaherty of Poland; and one daughter, Colleen Flaherty of Poland. Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
