Youngstown - Private services were held Monday at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers for Mary Zaitzew, 99, who passed away Friday morning at Hospice House in Poland. Mary was born Nov. 6, 1909 in Salem, Mass., a daughter of Paul and Irene Zubal Yaremchuk. She moved to Europe as a child and returned to the United States in 1922. She moved to this area in 1926. She married Paul Zaitzew in 1926. Mary leaves one daughter, Nadya Keenan of Youngstown; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, Andrew Yarmchuk of New Jersey and William Yarmchuk of Florida. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, who died in 1950; one son, Harry Zaitzew; three daughters, Nellie Bevilacqua, Vera Houck and Helen Bilas; two brothers, Plato and Alexander Yarmchuk; four sisters, Perena Brown, Pauline Bruno, Francis Haskowich and Olga Yaremchuk.
