Boardman-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Boardman on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 12:00 P.M., for Mary DeLisio 87, who died peacefully on Friday evening at Shepherd of the Valley with her daughter and family by her side. Mary was born on May 7, 1928, in Castlebattacio, Campobaso, Italy, a daughter of Dominic and Carmella Listorti Niro. She came to the United States, and the area as an 8 year old girl. She owned and operated the Dairy Isle in Struthers and also the Mary D's Salon. Mary was a previous member of Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church in Struthers and was on the church's first renewal team. She was a member of the Jolly Ten Card Club, the ladies Castle B Club and a former member of the St. Anthony's Auxiliary. She was known as an excellent baker of Almond Slices, Katherine Cookies and homemade pizza. Her door was always open, any hour of the day, for anyone to stop in and enjoy her cooking. Mary married Mathew DeLisio on July 27, 1946 and was married for almost 70 years. He passed away January 14, 2016. She leaves one daughter, Marlene (John) Centofanti of Boardman; two sisters, Toni (Ozzie) Furano of Poland and Jennie (Marc)  DiLisio of LasVegas, NV; four grandchildren, Ralph (Tiffany) Nero, Michelle (Albert) Pacella, Nicole (Michael) Hackstedde and Jennie Centofanti; three great grandchildren, Albert and Ava Pacella and Joe Hackstedde; one sister-in-law, Emma Niro, and will be sadly missed by her best friends, Ralph and Dee Nero, with whom she was friends with for over 70 years. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Grace Nero, and one brother Gus Niro. Friends may call at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Boardman two hours prior to the mass on Tuesday, from 10:00 to 11:45 A.M. The family wishes to thank the staff at Shepherd of the Valley for all their love and kindness which they showed to my mother. In lieu of flowers the family requests that material tributes be made in Mary's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio  44512.
