Columbiana – A service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 am at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers for Magdalena "Lena" Elaine Burgess, 87, who passed away at the St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center in Columbiana on Friday evening.
Lena was born June 12, 1928, in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Fink Millerleile. She married William T.M. Burgess on February 14, 1947, and shared 53 years with him. She worked at the Hathaway Bakery until its closing. Lena enjoyed being a homemaker, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved animals, and traveling in her motor home. Her favorite destinations were Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and winters in Arizona. She also enjoyed Mountaineer and bowling and was a longtime member of the Ladies of the Court Bowling League at Camelot Lanes.
Lena leaves to cherish her memory her son James (Carol) Burgess of New Springfield, her granddaughter Michelle (William) O'Brien of Green, Ohio, a grandson James Burgess of Boardman, five great grandchildren Lauren, William and Tyler Burgess and Caden and Madelyn O'Brien, two sister-in-laws Mary Grace and Geri Millerleile, a nephew Bobby (Mel) Millerleile and Frances Burgess.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William, who died May 24, 2000, three brothers John, Jack and Joseph Millerleile, one sister Theresa Cepa and a great grandson Caleb O'Brien.
Lena's son, James, and daughter-in-law, Carol, wish to extend their sincere appreciation to St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center for the loving care that they gave to her.
Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service at Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers.
