Struthers - Louise M. D'Agostino, 86 passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27th at Parkside Health Care in Columbiana, Ohio. Louise was born January 24, 1922 in Youngstown, a daughter of Ralph and Madeline Blanche Pontino. Louise married Richard D'Agostino in 1948. She resided in Struthers until 2003, when she made Parkside Care Center her home. To cherish her memory are her four daughters Roseann, Madeline (Brett) and Donna D'Agostino all of Struthers and Renee (Jame) Baluck of New Middletown, five grandchildren, Ralph (Candi) Fagert, Roseann Fagrt, Dr. Ross (Elizabeth) Yaple, and Tara and James Baluck, and four great grandchildren, Madison, Vincent, Jenna and Aidan. Louise leaves three brothers, James, Joseph and Peter Pontino and one sister Ann Pompili. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Andrew and Anthony Pontino and one sister Angela Marie Sahli. Louise was a social butterfly. A member of Sam Camens, The Italian Mothers Club 2162, The Royal Senior Citizens, St. Anthony's and St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society. Louise enjoyed being a homemaker and had received many awards for her knitted and crocheted items at the Canfield Fair. She was well know for her Italian culinary talents. Her speciality was homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs. The secret receipe has been passed down through the family and will keep the Italian tradition and the memory of Louise alive. A special thank you of love and appreciation goes to the nursing staff, the aides, the social workers, and activity department of Parkside Care Center. Without their continous caregiving and unselfish expressions of patience and understanding Louise would have never been able to adjust to living at a nursing home. The Parkside angels took her under their wings and in no time she thought of every one of them as family and of Parkside as her home.
