Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers.

Visitation: Friends may call at Christ Our Savior Parish on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. to noon, one hour prior to the mass.

STRUTHERS - Louis (Red) Thomas, 87, passed away Tuesday at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown. Red was born March 31, 1924 in Youngstown, a son of Stephen and Maria Fiorito Thomas. He lived in Struthers his entire life and owned and operated a shoemaking shop. He later worked as a custodian at St. Nicholas Church and school, from which he retired. Red married Mary N. Giancola on July 3, 1947 and she passed away on April 19, 2003. He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, their Holy Name Society, the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Struthers Council No. 4224. He was a devoted New York Yankies fan, loved bowling, poker and pinocle. He also devoted many hours to the St. Nicholas Festival. Red leaves two daughters, Mary Lou (Rick) Kosa of Youngstown and Erma (William) Shea of Struthers; six grandchildren, Teddy Denney of Youngstown, Jesse Denney of Youngstown, Lou (Caitlin) Denny of Poland, Athena Denney of Columbus, Michael Borgmann of Cleveland and Matthew Borgmann of Girard; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Christopher, Lizzie, Kyle and Ryan and one sister, Margaret (Richard) Holmes of Youngstown. Red was preceded in death by his wife Mary; two brothers, Daniel and Stephen Thomas and one sister Nicolina Sovick. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Masternick Memorial for the care and compassion they extended to Red.

Memorials: The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Red's name be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at 208 West Front Street, Youngstown, OH 44503 or Ursuline Mother House at 4250 Shields Road in Canfield, OH 44406
