Struthers - Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. at the Clemente Funeral Home, with a mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 A.M. at Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church, both in Struthers, for Louis M. Boano, 95, of Struthers, who passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015, following a long illness.
Louie was born March 13, 1920 in Lowellville, Ohio, a son of Dominic and Angeline Negri Boano and was proud of his Lowellville heritage.
Louie married his sweetheart, the former Virginia Yurko, on July 19, 1947 and was married 60 years before she passed away on January 19, 2008.
He was a World War II Army Veteran serving with the 326th. Harbor Craft Co in the China Burma India Theater, and earned the grade of Tech 5. He retired from the Youngstown Sheet Tube Company, Conduit Department with 31 years of service. He also worked as a bricklayer along side his son Gary, until he started Dental School in 1984. Louie loved gardening and was very good at it.
Louie is survived his son, Dr. Gary Boano of Struthers, who was also his caregiver and best friend; a brother, Andy Boano of Corano, California and his sister, Adeline Arcomano of Palmetto, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Jack, James, Lou, Andrew, Jim, Mike and Dominic and his sisters, Lena Valentino, Josephine Payne, Maria and Mary Boano.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers.
