New Middletown – Leonard  Abbattista, 81, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland.

Born May 11, 1944, in Molfetta, Italy, Leonard came to the United States at a young age and built a life defined by dedication, hard work, and devotion to family.  A proud cement mason for 60 years, he was known as a hardworking and dependable man who took great pride in his trade.  His strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family were evident throughout his life.

Leonard was married for 58 years to his devoted and loving wife, Eva Muntean.  Their enduring marriage was built on love, loyalty, and unwavering support.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mario Abbattista; his mother, Giovanna Abbattista;  his mother-in-law, Dora Muntean; his brothers-in-law, Vito Minervini and Anthony Cook.

Leonard is survived by his beloved wife, Eva; his siblings, Tony Abbattista (Nancy), Irene Minervini, Sylvia LaRocca (Nick), and Sabina Cook; his two children, Mario Abbattista (Renee) and Jenine Stanton (Dan); and his three cherished grandchildren, Mario Abbattista, Jr.  (Emily Grossi), Maren Abbattista (Michael Nardone) and Jacob Stanton.

He enjoyed golfing, working outdoors, and especially spending time in his yard. Above all, Leonard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who treasured time with his family.  He will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and the quiet love he showed through his actions every day.

In accordance with Leonard's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.  His family will honor his memory privately.
