Poland – Services will be held at 9:30 am Thursday at Clemente Funeral Home and a mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am at Christ Our Savior / St. Nicholas Church, both in Struthers, for Leona "Lee" A. Sandusky, 85, of Poland, who died Tuesday morning at the Hospice House.
Leona also known as "Lee" was born September 29, 1928 in Struthers a daughter of John and Anna Anetsko Muller.
She married Andy E. Sandusky on May 26, 1951.
After attending Youngstown College, she worked as a secretary at Metropolitan Life Insurance and worked many years as a receptionist for Dr. Vincent LePore. She was a member of St. Nicholas Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and worked bingo for many years. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and was a past president and treasurer. She volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Conference in Struthers at St. Nicholas. Leona loved to golf and was in the PYBS League and enjoyed a glass of homemade wine in the evening. She was a wonderful wife and mother and many held her in their hearts as a giving and loving friend.
Leona leaves her husband, Andy, and two daughters Mary Lee Sandusky and Lynda (Tony DeLisio) Sandusky of Youngstown.
She was preceded in death by her brother John Muller and, her twin brother, Leo Muller.
Friends may call today from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers.
Burial will be held at St. John's Cemetery.
