Services: A Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown on Saturday, December 3, 2012.
Visitation: Friends may call from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at Zion Church on Saturday.
NEW MIDDLETOWN - Lavelle A. Lipp, 95, passed away on Sunday morning. He was born Nov. 22, 1917 in Springfield Township, a son of Park R. and Mary Bush Lipp. He grew up in New Springfield and moved to New Middletown in 1941. Lavelle was a 1936 graduate of Springfeld Township High School. He worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company as a steelworker and then at Panelmatic as a Fabricator. Lavelle was in the Army Air Corp during World War II, where he flew in a C-47, was a crew chief and a mechanical engineer. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where he was a former Choir Director. He played in bowling leagues, where he served as secretary, was a member of the Men's Protestant Golf League and he enjoyed gardening. Lavelle married Annamae Wire on May 29, 1941. Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Rhonda R. (Bob) Carson of New Middletown; one brother, Park (Jean) Lipp, Jr of Grove City; two sisters, Carolyn Welsh of Scottsville, Ariz. and Kay (Donald,Sr.) Barth of Poland; and three grandchildren, Courtney (Evan) Bartsch, Allison (Brandon) Caldwell and Tiffany Carson. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rodney David Lipp; one brother, Donald and Ruth Lipp; one sister, Darlene and Richard Brungard; and one brother-in- law, Herman Welsh. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church from 11:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
