Poland – A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday morning at 10:00 am at Christ Our Savior/ St. Nicholas Church in Struthers for Laura Colarossi, 85, who died Tuesday morning at Greenbriar Nursing Home with her family at her side.
Laura was born in Pacentro, Italy, on January 19, 1930, a daughter of Domenico and Luisa D'Alesandro Cercone. She came from Italy in 1950 and formerly lived on Como Street in Struthers, and worked at the 7UP bottle company.
She married Frank Colarossi on April 21, 1949.
Laura had numerous jobs cooking and catering, which was also her hobby. She worked at Morrone Catering, Oakview Hall and The Fireplace. She was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church, and was an honorary member of the Pacentrano Club Women's Auxiliary.
Laura's favorite pastimes were gardening, cooking and baking. She was known for her cavatelli and baked hundreds of dozens of cookies for her friends and family, especially at Christmas time. She loved to go to church, shop and bake with her life long baking friend Lisa Mastroberdino. The loves of her life were her grandchildren.
Laura leaves her son, Vincent Colarossi of Struthers; three daughters Louise (Richard) Flesher of Poland, JoAnn (Jerry) Guy of Ft. Myers, FL, and Nancy (Jon) Jacubec of Struthers; eight grandchildren Lori (Keith) Deeds, Jerry Guy, Jr., Jessica Guy, Nate Jacubec, Jake Jacubec, Jaret Jacubec, Anthony Colarossi, and Dante Colarossi; two great grandsons Jaxon and Ashton Deeds and many nieces and nephews, who showed her great respect during her illness.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, who died October 4, 1985; two brothers Attilio and Albert Cercone, and two sisters Laura Colarossi and Laurina Cercone.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Greenbriar Nursing Home and Southern Care Hospice for the care and compassion they gave to Laura.
Friends may call on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and Friday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers.
