Struthers - Katherine A. Schnell, 86, of Struthers- Katherine A. Schnell, 86, passed away at Maplecrest Nursing Home, Struthers on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2009. Katherine was born on December 5, 1922 in Hermansville, MI, a daughter of Joseph and Sylvia Rodentich Hlay and came to this area as a young woman. She worked for 11 years as a waitress at the 20th Century Restaurant and the Voyager. She married Walter Schnell in September of 1964 and he passed away on Feb. 27, 2001. Katherine leaves behind one son Joseph E. (Marilyn) Pavlacic of New Castle, PA, one daughter, Judy Marino of Struthers, one brother Joseph Hlay of Niles, one sister Pauline (Joseph) Ciavarella of Poland, OH, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and her beloved dog Dolly. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Mary Maule.
