Joyce Dubina Swierz

Youngstown - Joyce Dubina Swierz (77) passed away on September 18, 2024, peacefully under the care of Hospice of the Valley after several hospital stays including the latest at Mercy Health.

Joyce was a lifelong resident of Youngstown born on May 13, 1947, to Alvira Degenaro Dubina and George James Dubina, whom she will join in heaven.

Joyce graduated in 1965 from Woodrow Wilson High School and later from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in special education. Joyce loved teaching her students and touching their lives to prepare them for their futures. She taught and substitute taught at many Mahoning Valley Schools.

Joyce loved her dogs, especially Fluffy and Muffy. Joyce loved all animals and volunteered at many animal shelters including Angels for Animals. Joyce was an avid reader, loved music, and had a beautiful singing voice. Joyce was an excellent cook, loved attending plays, and making crafts.

She leaves behind memories to be cherished by a daughter, son, and three grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, George J. Dubina (Beverly), a niece, many cousins, and friends.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service.

Family and friends are asked to privately remember memories made with Joyce in your own way.

She will be laid to rest with her parents at Lake Park Cemetery.
