Struthers  – A Catholic prayer service will be held Monday, June 30, at 11:00 am at Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers for John Tomei who died peacefully at Masternick Memorial in New Middletown on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

John was born January 8, 1927, in Villa St. Angelo, Italy, one of three children of Joseph and Maria Ellen Rubeis Tomei. He immigrated to the United States with his mother and siblings at the age of 19 to join his father in Boyers, PA. He gained his citizenship and served in the U.S. Army primarily at Ft. Bragg, now Ft. Liberty, in North Carolina.

John was strong in his Catholic faith, serving as a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He played in the Youngstown Morra League and in numerous tournaments. He was inducted into the Youngstown Morra Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Happy Seniors at Boardman Lanes and spent many years going to the gym regularly. John was an avid gardener who enjoyed cooking and making wine. He loved sharing produce from his garden, food from his kitchen, and bottles of homemade wine with family and friends.

John leaves a son John A. Tomei of Livonia, MI and a daughter, Lisa Anne Mithen (Michael) as well as two granddaughters, Alexandra and Victoria, of Livonia, MI. John is survived by his sister Lola Parenti of Struthers, his nieces and nephews Mary Ellen Gugliotti (Guy) ,  Josanna Parenti Adamson-Cauler (Gary),  Bennie J. Tomei (Stacie), and Joseph Tomei (Mary).

John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ennio T. Tomei.

Friends may call prior to the service on Monday, June 30, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Clemente Funeral Home at 700 Fifth Street in Struthers, OH, 44471.
