Struthers - John C. Simerlink, 97, passed away on August 18, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Campus. John was born on July 24, 1912, a son of Andrew and Elizabeth Janitor Simerlink. He married Victoria Wrona and she passed away in 1983. He was with the Youngstown Police Dept. for 27 years, retiring in 1972. He was a turnkey for 18 years and was called THE OLD BULL OF THE WOODS by fellow policeman. John leaves behind two sons, John P. (Clara) Simerlink of Dayton, OH; Richard E. (Vera) Simerlink of Poland, OH; five grandchildren; Deborah Simerlink, Daniel (Ann) Simerlink, Gregory (Cindy) Simerlink, Joan (Sean) Geer and Laura Simerlink; six great grandchildren: Nathan, Ryan, Lauren, John, Jamie and Dominic, and one brother, David Simerlink. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Andrew, Mitchell, George, Thomas and James Simerlink and three sisters who passed away at an early age. The Simerlink family offers deepest Thanks to the staff at Sateri 920, for their many years of devoted care. We would also like to Thank the Ron Joy staff for their care during his final days.
