Petersburg – Services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the
St. John Lutheran Church, 14394 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, Petersburg, Ohio with Pastor Larry Klinker officiating, for John "Jack" Kennedy, 86, who passed away at his home early Wednesday morning surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on December 18, 1928 in Belle Vernon, PA, a son of John and Bertha Carrier Kennedy.
He graduated from Springfield Township High School in 1948 and began working at his families business J.J. Kennedy Petroleum. Jack was also a proud member of the Ohio National Guard and the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department; an avid bowler; an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg, serving as president of the church during the construction of the new church in 1957. He was a lover of ice cream and all things sweet.
Jack leaves behind his loving wife, the former Martha Koch Kennedy, his high school sweetheart, whom he had been married to for over 67 years; his sister, Joann Barger; his three children, John (Nancy) Kennedy, David (Paula) Kennedy, and Susan (David) Kasmer; 8 grandchildren, Jodi (Mike) Liscio, Erin (Brent) Ryan, Parker Kasmer, Kirkland Kasmer, Brandon Kennedy, Allyson Kennedy, Blaine Kasmer and Barkley Kasmer and three great grandchildren, Madison Liscio and Eloise and Beatrice Ryan.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William Kennedy, his infant granddaughter Denver Kennedy in 1988 and his grandson Johnny Kennedy in 2010.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church, and also one hour prior to Saturdays' church service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
