Obituary

New Middletown -Jack Kenneth Russell, 85, entered peacefully into his eternal life Tuesday, Nov. 10th surrounded by his family. Jack, a son of Lora and Robert K. Russell, was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was a 1948 graduate of Ashtabula High School. He began working as an assistant manager at a theater in Massachusetts. After a fateful transfer to the Paramount Theater in Youngstown, he met the love of his life, Rita Amreihn. Not long after, Jack was drafted and served during the Korean War where he learned electronic communications. Once out of the service, he started his career working for Amreihn Appliances as an Electronic Technician. Years later, Jack established his own successful business and eventually retired from his career at Sheely's. Jack was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Jack will always be remembered lovingly by family and friends as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was well known for his kindness and generosity. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor that impacted all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Jack taught his children and grandchildren that all life matters, even in its most humble form. He passes on his passionate love of animals to them. Jack leaves his wife, Rita Russell, whom he married Dec. 15, 1951; two daughters, Deborah Russell of Port Orchard, WA and Diane Pompoco of Poland; one son, Jack (Laura) Russell Jr. of Greensboro, NC; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Janae, Roger, Rachelle, Shane, Amanda, Jack, and Nicholas; and four great-grandchildren, Darren Jr., Dakota, Devin, and Roger. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Russell Jr. and his beloved dogs, Honey Bun, Sporty, Bonnie, Cleo, Ned, and Heidi. We are sure that they are all happily reunited. Special thanks to Lisa and Chris Daprile and the staff of Maplecrest Nursing Home for your loving care of our father and grandfather. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 10143 Main Street, New Middletown, Ohio 44442.
