New Middletown - Ida A. Hayes, 73, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Hospice House in Poland. Ida was born on January 17, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Donald Hampton and Rose L. Gazzo DeLozier. She graduated from the Patterson Park High School in Baltimore, Maryland. She moved to this area in 1965. Before moving here, she worked as an operator at Bell Telephone and for Lever Brothers, both in Maryland. She managed the Leffingwell Hills Country Club Restaurant and Banquet Hall. She was also the owner of Sharkey's Down Under Restaurant in Campbell, OH and the owner and president of Hayes D & D Towing in New Springfield which she operated with her husband and family. Ida was of the Methodist Faith, a member of the Columbiana Chapter #428 of the Ohio Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ida leaves her husband Dallas R. Hayes,Sr. whom she married on October 6, 1954; one son, Dallas R. (Darlene) Hayes, Jr. of New Springfield; one daughter, Patricia A. Barnes of New Middletown, OH; one brother, Donald Hampton DeLozier, Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina; three sisters, Colletta (Charles) Saunders of Laurel, Delaware, Patricia (Al) Szczepanski of Noblesville, Indiana and Geraldine (Charles) Backus of Valdosta, Georgia; her grandchildren, Dallas R. (Ulisa) Hayes, III and their children, Taylor Thomas, Hayden Hayes, Triston Hayes and Colton Hayes; grandchildren, Dustin R. Hayes and Lacie (Scott) Harman and Samantha Barnes and her child Jeremy Colaluca. Ida was preceded in death by her parents.
