Services: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 31, 201 at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New Middletown with Father Stephen Popovich officiating.

Visitation: Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown and in church on Monday, a half hour before the mass, 9:30 to 10:00 a.m.

MASURY - Helen Matta, 93 of the Orange Village Care Center, formerly of New Middletown passed away on Thursday morning. Helen was born on August 21, 1918 in Campbell, OH, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Charniga. She was a cook at the New Middletown grade school for over 25 years and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church and a pirohy maker at the church. Helen was an avid reader, enjoyed hunting snipes, loved to bake, cook, tend to her flowers and plants and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Helen married Paul L. Matta on February 3, 1940 and he passed away on May 19, 1986. She leaves one son James P. (Helen) Matta of New Bern, N.C.; two daughters, Judith E. (Paul) Ferrett of Hubbard, OH and Pauline Matta of Youngstown. She leaves eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers, Joseph, Andrew and Paul Charniga and one sister Julia Schott. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown and in church on Monday, a half hour, 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., before the mass in church.
