Visitation: Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown and one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Saturday 10 to 11 a.m.

New Middletown-Hazel L. Treharne Franklin, 93, of Woodland Drive, passed away Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Hazel was born Oct. 9, 1915 in Canfield, a daughter of Irvin and Sarah Bottenfield Hixson. She was a lifelong resident of the area and cooked and served in area restaurants until she retired in 1981. Hazel was a member of the Old Springfield Church of Christ. She married Edmund Treharne in 1942 and George Franklin in 1957. Hazel leaves behind five sons, Edmund (Angeline) Treharne of Hubbard, Irvin Treharne of North Lima, Arthur (Essie) Treharne of New Middletown, George Franklin of Youngstown and Thomas Franklin of Florida; one daughter, Ellen Fitch of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; infant son, Leroy Treharne; daughter-in-law, Diana Sue Treharne; four brothers, Kenneth, Relph, Homer and Ethan Hixson; and four sisters, Helen Black, Mildred Hixson, Ethel Treharne and June Walters.
