Poland – Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in New Middletown for Gerald Aey, 72, of Poland who passed away Thursday morning, after a 3 year battle against Multiple Myeloma.
Gerald was born 10 December 1942 in Struthers, a son of Edward B. and Martha P. Fleming Aey.
He lived in the area all of his life and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He was a Police Officer for 40 years and Fraud Investigator with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, retiring in 2012. Gerald was of the Catholic Faith.
Gerald married the former Nancy J. Cook on 20 November 1964.
Besides his wife, he leaves one son, John J. (Karin) Aey of Columbus, OH, 3 daughters Pamela (Mark) Bloomingdale of Columbus, OH; Gerrie L. (Dave) Aey of Berlin Center, OH; Michele Aey of Poland, OH; 4 brothers Ferdinand P. (Sally) Aey of Daytona, FL; Edward Aey of Mentor, OH; Ronald (Carol) Aey of Lowellville, OH; Michael E. (Linda) Aey of Struthers, OH; 2 sisters Maureen Warner of New Mexico, Donna J. (James) Maytas of Struthers, OH; 9 Grandchildren Devon (Alyssa) Aey, Josh Chamberlain, Brittany Chamberlain, Marquis Bloomingdale, Burns Chamberlain, Talyn Bloomingdale, Tyler Chamberlain, Mackenzie Aey, and Ethan Aey. Two great-grandchildren Kayden Aey and Brynlee Blankenship and his beloved companion Preston the Pug.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Martha and son (Michael Aey).
Calling hours will be held Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown and in church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M.
