Visitation: Friends may call at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday and at Zion Lutheran Church on Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M.
NEW MIDDLETOWN - George F. Heberling, 81, passed away on Tuesday morning at his residence. George was born March 6, 1930, in Youngstown, a son of Chester and Janet Richards Heberling. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on June 21, 1948 and served overseas in the Philippines from April 6, 1950 to March 22, 1952. He served in Okinawa with 2152nd Communications Squadron from Nov. 30, 1958 to July 10, 1962. He also served overseas in the Philippine Islands with the 1st Mobile Communications Group from May 24, 1964 to May 20, 1966. He retired from the military after 20 years of Service on Sept. 1, 1968. He worked for the Youngstown Post Office, from which he retired. George married Nancy M. Schreckengost on Sept. 10, 1952. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was an American Legion lifetime member. George leaves his wife, Nancy; his son, Jody L. (Joan) Heberlling of Fremont and Gary L. Heberling of Canfield; a daughter, Renee M. (William) Bullen of New Middletown; two brothers, James W. Heberling of New Springfield and Richard C. Heberling of New Middletown; one sister, Marilyn R. Dornon of New Springfield; three granddaughters, Jamie McCartney of Columbus, Jessica Livelsberger of Columbus and Aubrey Bullen of New Middletown; one grandson, William Bullen, Jr. of New Middletown; and one great-granddaughter Louisa McCartney. George was preceded in death by his parents a sister-in-law, Diane Heberling; and a brother-in-law, Robert Dornon.
