The Good Lord called his son Frank J. Buster Basista to be with him December 16, 2010. Frank was born April 20, 1921 in Campbell and graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1940. Frank joined the Coast Guard during World War II. After the war, he was employed at Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation, later known as COld Metal Products, and retired in 1983 after 37 years. Frank was a resident of Struthers for over 56 years and was blessed with wonderful neighbors and friends. He also loved his nieces and nephews very much. Frank was an active member of St. Nicholas Church, serving for many years as an usher and festival volunteer. He also was a member of the VFW Post 7538 in Struthers and the Slovak Catholic Sokol. For many years Frank was an avid bowler. He bowled in the Eight Ball League and the Catholic Slovak Sokol League. He also enjoyed playing the daily bug (now known as the Ohio Lottery), horse racing, a good cigar, and playing poker. Frank enjoyed football and baseball and was a rabid fan of the San Francisco 49ers and New York Yankees. Frank will be reunited in heaven with his wife Marian (Guylitto) whom he married January 8, 1952, his mother Catherine (Ofcarik), father John Basista, sisters Mary Zuk, Helen Bush, Irene Sharo, and Dorothy Pruitt and brothers John and Joseph Basista. Frank will alwys lovingly be forever remembered and forever missed by his son Kenneth (Ellen) of Centerville, Ohio, daughter Karen (Rob Hodge) of Kettering, Ohio, and three grandchildren Timothy, Matthew and Jeffrey. The Basista family extends their appreciation for the kindness and compassionate care provided by the staff and volunteers at the Hospice of the Valley and Hospice House during Frank's final days.
