Services: A life celebration will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in East Palestine.

Visitation: There will be no calling hours.

NEW WATERFORD - Eleanor J. (Grope) Shaw, 87, passed away at her residence Friday morning. Eleanor was born on March 23, 1924 in Youngstown, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Laughner. She lived in the area her whole life and was the owner and operator of Shaw's Pines Tavern in Negley. She was a former member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She was also a member of the Moose Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, both in East Palestine. Eleanor married Robert Shaw in 1967 and he passed away in 1980. She leaves four sons, Charles A. Grope and Wayne E. Grope, both of Boardman, Ronald G. (Bonnie) Grope of Poland and Bruce R. Grope of East Palestine; one daughter, Charlene R. Bair of Youngstown, three sisters, Ruth Thompson of Boardman, Virginia Baun of Salem and Audrey Duvall of Dayton; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, David Lee Grope; two brothers, Bob and Jim Laughner; and one grandson, Randy Grope.
