Services: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 12:00 p.m.(noon) at St. Matthias Church, 911 Cornell Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44502 with Rev. Msgr. Peter M. Poland officiating.

Visitation: Visitation will be at St. Matthias Church, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service.

YOUNGSTOWN - Donald Michael Johnston, 80, passed away early Wednesday morning at the Vibra of Boardman, with his family by his side. Donald was born on November 1, 1930 in Youngstown, OH, a son of William, Jr and Dorothy Louise Gething Johnston. He was a graduate of South High School and served in the Army as a training Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. Donald worked at the Sears and Roebuck Company as a salesman and retired after working 42 years. He was a member of St. Matthias Church in Youngstown and a former member of the Eagles Club in Austintown and Youngstown. He was an avid fisherman and gardner. Donald married the former Stella Marie Margala on May 22, 1954. Besides his wife, he leaves one son, David M. (Kim) Johnston of Sheffield Lake, OH; two daughters, Donna M. Martynyszyn of Canfield, OH and Mary Beth Gentile of Cape Coral, FL; one brother, Jim (Betty) Johnston of Yulee, FL; eight grandchildren, Dawn Marie Shaffer, Christine (Nick) Kennedy, Angela Gentile, Michele Martynyszyn, Elisa (John) Weaver, Michael Martynyszyn, Michael Johnston and Susan Johnston. Donald also leaves six great-grandchildren, John Martynyszyn, Star Shaffer, Belinda Shaffer, Christopher Weaver, Logan Kennedy and baby boy Martynyszyn to be. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William, Robert and David Johnston. Mr. Johnston's family sends special thanks to Dr. Lesitsky and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Forum Health Northside Medical Center and the Vibra of Boardman Staff for the kindness shown and care give to Don.
