STRUTHERS-A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers for Donald J. Massaro, Sr., 84 , who passed away at the Emeritus Woodstock in Georgia on Monday evening March 31, 2014.
Donald was born on March 18, 1930 in Struthers, OH, a son of David G. and Minnie Maffeo Massaro.
He lived in the area his whole life and worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company and LTV in transportation for 36 years before retiring in 1986. He also drove school bus for the Struthers and Poland school district. Donald was a United States Marine veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish/St. Nicholas Church in Struthers and was an usher for the church. Donald was a member of the Catholic War Vets Post #1222, past Commander and member of the American Legion Post #15 of Poland and a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local #2163. He enjoyed dancing and taking care of his garden.
Donald married the former Betty Raney on September 9, 1961 and she passed away on January 7, 1984.
He leaves three sons, Donald J. Massaro, Jr. of Kennesaw, Georgia, Gerald Massaro of Georgia and Timothy (Jen) Massaro of Blue Ridge, Georgia; a daughter Christine (Tom) Yost of Woodstock, Georgia; two sisters Rose Marie Massaro of Struthers and Gloria Tiller of Chicago, Ill. and six grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers Donald G. Massaro, Jr. II and Vincent A. Massaro, along with a sister Mary Lou Massaro.
Friends may call two hours before the service at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
