New Middletown - Donald S. Gacura of New Middletown, Ohio, passed away on the morning of March 5, 2025, at the age of 91. He passed peacefully at Hospice House in Poland following a brief illness.

Born on November 18, 1933, in Warren, Ohio, he was the son of the late Stephen and Lottie Gacura.  A lifelong resident of the area, Don graduated from Warren Harding High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Air Force as a Captain. He flew bomber aircraft as well as C-130s out of Vienna, Ohio, before transitioning to a career as a commercial pilot for multiple companies, including Ajax Magnethermic in Warren, Ohio.

Outside of his career, Don was an avid gardener and carpenter. He took great pride in his farm in Newton Township, Ohio, where he spent much of his time.

He is survived by his two sons, William (Barbara) Gacura of Newton Township, Ohio, and Michael (Kimberly) Gacura of North Port, Florida; two grandchildren, Greg (Lu) Gacura and Matt (Ashley) Gacura; and two great-grandchildren, Niko and Anya. He is also survived by his sister, June Polinko of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Also, he will be sadly missed by two friends, Helen Lopshansky and Patty Cramer. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Evelyn Bloom of Cleveland, Ohio.

As per his wishes, Don was cremated. There are no call hours.
