Struthers – Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 14th. at 10:00 A.M. at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30 A.M. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish/St. Joseph the Provider Church in Campbell, for Domenic "Dan" Carrocce, 88, who passed away on Thursday morning at St. Elizabeth Boardman Campus.
Dan was born on December 30, 1926 in Lowellville, Ohio, a son of Lawrence and Theresa Manzi Carrocce.
He grew up in Lowellville and graduated from Lowellville High School in 1945 and then moved to Struthers in 1958.
Dan was in the Army Air Force during World War II, where he attained the rank of Corporal. Upon returning home, he worked at Sharon Steel and retired from General Fireproofing as a machine operator, after working for many years.
Dan married Veronica G. Gresh on October 28, 1950 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Campbell and they just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She was the light of his life and he said she was "one in a million".
Besides his wife of Struthers, he leaves his children, Paul (Marilyn) Carrocce, Janet (Mike) Goskie and Daniel Carrocce; two grandsons, Domenic and Larry Carrocce; one sister Virginia Centofanti and sister-in-laws, Irene Carrocce and Ruth Gresh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bruno, Ralph, Victor, James Carrocce and Catherine Ornelas, Mary Cammisso, Lena Grannie, Carmel Mastranglo, and Anne Balogh.
Dan was a quiet and very religious family man and never failed to watch Divine Mercy, and said the Rosary and watched mass daily. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved the annual family vacations at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He enjoyed gardening and going to the Lowellville Bike Trail with his grandsons to watch the trains. He was a Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and an Ohio State Buckeye Fan.
God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not meant to be, so He put His arms around him and whispered "Come with Me."
Friends may call on Sunday at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
