Services: Services will be on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown.

Visitation: Friends may call from 1 to 3:00 p.m., 2 hours prior to the service, at Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown.

PETERSBURG - Daniel Lewis Burtner, Sr., 67, entered peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday at Hospice House in Poland. Dan was born on August 14, 1942 in New Albany, Indiana, a son of Donald William and Betty Jean Burtner. He was a 1960 graduate of Grand Valley High School and worked for over 25 years as a millwright for Essroc, retiring in 2007. Dan will best be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandpa. He was an avid fisherman, spending most of his free time fishing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing, working in his gardens and spending time with his family and friends. His memories will be cherished and he will be sadly missed by his wife, Lucy Shaw Burtner, whom he married on February 14, 2002; his six children, Daniel (Carol) Burtner, Jr. of New Springfield, OH; Dawn (Jeff) Cook of Cortland, OH Deneen Burtner of David, FL, Deanna (Ron) Ogrodny of Hubbard, OH, Devin Burtner of Orlando, FL, Darla Cross of Columbiana, OH; his step-children, Dawn (Jason) Holod of New Middletown, OH, Mark (Colleen) Shaw of Petersburg, OH, Gloria (Rob) Stiegler of New Middletown, OH; eleven grandchildren, Sara, DJ, Willy, Adam, Kayla, Anna, Chance, Hunter, Jakob, Dolton and Wyatt. He leaves his mother Betty Burtner of Cortland, OH, his siblings, Donna (Jim) Rog of Sarasota, FL, David (Sue) Burtner of Piqua, OH and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Bortner.
