NEW MIDDLETOWN – Services will be on Monday at 1:00 P.M. at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown for Clarence M. Hartman, 92, of New Middletown, who passed away at his residence on Friday morning.
Clarence was born December 6, 1921 in Philipsburg, Pa., a son of Clarence Raymond and Lillian Davis Hartman.
He came to this area when he was 25 years old and served in the United States Army during World War II in the OSS. He worked as a road conductor at the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad. He was a member of the Poland Presbyterian Church in Poland and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a 65 year member of the Sheet Metal Air Railroad Transportation Union.
Clarence married the former Helen Varsho on May 24, 1947 and she passed away on December 28, 2001.
He leaves a son David L. (Bonnie) Hartman of New Middletown; two daughters, Mary Lou Ivan of Boardman, OH and Elaine A. Wells of New Middletown, Ohio; also nine grandchildren and eight grand-children.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son William E. Coan, three brothers, Gerald, Mahlon, Carl M. Hartman and one sister, Elsie Ours.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Clemente Funeral Home in New Middletown.
