STRUTHERS-Clara D. Gallas, 88, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, on Thursday evening of January 9,2014.
Clara was born July 4, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Stephen and Theresa Pope Horney. She was a lifelong resident of the area and married Edmund Gallas on May 10, 1947.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchilderen. Clara also enjoyed her job with Transit School Bus Services, where she was a valued employee for 12 years.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Rocco J.) Schiavello of Poland, her son-in-law William Menster of Punta Gorda, FL; grandsons Matthew (Ashley) Menster of North Carolina, Nicholas (Megan) Menster of Ft. Myers, FL, and Jacquelyn (Eric) Lemke of Poland.
Clara will be deeply missed by her 11 great-grandchildren; Bryce and Brayden of Fort Myers, FL, Gianna, Geno, Joseph and Giuliana of Poland, Landon and Liam of Poland and Tyler, Andrew and Bradley of North Carolina. She will also be missed by her faithful companion, Precious, her Yorkshire terrier.
Clara will be reunited with those whom she loved and preceded her in death, her beloved husband, Edmund, who passed away onf March 4, 1990, her eldest daughter Claire Menster, who passed away on March 26, 2009, as well as her first grandson William (Kari) Menster, who passed away on September 11, 2011.
Clara is survived by her older brother George (Josephine) Horney of Boardman. She will again join her other siblings who have already been called home, Joseph, Stephen and John Horney and Helen Hrusovsky, Anna Woods, Irene Prystash and Ruth Lischak.
The family welcomes all friends to call on Monday, January 13th, at the Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Clara's final resting place will be along side her husband "Eddie", where they will together remain in eternal peace at Calvary Cemetery.
