New Springfield-Cheryl L. (Smith) Stepan,55, passed away Friday August 10,2012 at her home, with her family by her side, after a long battle with cancer. Cheri was born on Aug 7, 1957 in Youngstown,OH a daughter of Ted Smith and Joann (Brabant-Smith) Riel. Cheri loved being with her family, grandchildren and baking for her VFW. She leaves her loving husband Thomas, whom she married on November 27,2004. She leaves two daughters, Tracee (Seidner) Dennison of Unity, Joanna (Seidner) Little of New Springfield; Papa Charlie and Grandma Mary Stepan of Boardman. She also leaves 7 grandchildren Brittany, Teddi,Hanna,Morgan,Blake,Carter Stepan and Taylor Johngrass; her papa Jim; 6 sisters,Lauri, Carol,Cindi,Janis, Pam and Patti and 4 brothers Dan, Ted,Robert and John. There are two grandmothers also, Treca Smith and Doris (Brabant) Cassie. Cheri was preceded in death by her father Ted; one grandson Tylor and a nephew Michael. Cheri worked with the Sprinffield EMT's and many years at the Vittle Village in New Springfield. Her last years at work were at the Springfield Schools janitorial position which she really enjoyed. Cheri graduated from Springfield High and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the New Springfield VFW Post #2799 known as the Triangle Post.She will be sadly missed by all her family members and friends.
